Call me Mon

I'm a Product Designer working across UX, UI and research. I have 10 years of experience creating user-centric digital products, aligning business and customer needs.

I particularly enjoy working on niche and complex web applications, the kind that requires absorbing a large amount of detail about a new industry.

Journey mapping

This is my main area of expertise. I'm great at shaping those fuzzy early ideas into concrete features. I am fast and pragmatic. I’m a big believer in getting a prototype out there quickly, and improving with feedback. I always start with pen and paper. I work to whatever level of polish the project calls for.

Look-and-feel

I love setting up and working with design systems. I’m a huge Figma nerd, I know all about tokens and auto-layout. I use variables and conditions to get complex interactions that are as close as possible to the final product. I always create interactive prototypes, they often replace the need for documentation later.

Workshops

Co-design sessions

Design sprints

Whenever possible I like to get stakeholders, developers and/or users together for collaborative sessions. Sometimes we sketch, sometimes we just write ideas down. Often it’s about defining the user journey. I believe we get better results when everyone is on the same page from the start, and it saves a lot of time with revisions.

Usability testing

I am not a research expert, but I know enough to handle a simple project. Mostly qualitative research, running interviews and usability testing. I’ve done some hands-on research as well as oversight, where I help define goals, plan scripts and translate insights into features, working with a third party research agency.

Stakeholder engagement

I’m a systems thinker, have a little bit of code knowledge, crazy organised. I get along great with developers. I've done my fair share of writing Jira tickets and delivery timelines. I love a single-source-of-truth, and documentation that has just the right level of information. I always consider the cost-effectiveness of design solutions from a build perspective.

I am quick on my feet, and a confident public speaker. Lots of experience planning and leading sessions with clients and users.
